A dense evergreen shrub that is quite slow growing yet very long lived. Its purpose is primarily for hedging and topiary. However, it has all the characteristics of a superb border shrub too. The dark green foliage is thick and present year round. Can be grown in most fertile soils but prefers slightly alkaline, well drained areas for most impressive growth. This plant can be kept in shape by clipping once annually, although it will not lose its compact appearance if left to its own devices Evergreen box tree (buxus/boxwood) is ideal for topiary and growing in pots.
These Box Tree Balls are already shaped for you and just need maintaining with a light trim a couple of times per year. Leave a little growth on each time if you want them to get bigger. Box Trees grow best in well drained fertile soil or, if growing in a pot, use multipurpose compost. Sun or part shade. Always water box ball in pots by wetting the soil rather the foliage, wet foliage can encourage a disease called box blight All our topiary specimens are individually selected for being a nice shape.
